The aim of the degree is to develop artistic, vocal skills, social competence and the personality of the student in order to prepare for a professional employment as a soloist, ensemble singer or choral singer, mastering the style of various stylistic era (Early music, classical, romantic, classical modernism, contemporary music).
The bachelor’s programme Solo Singing creates the foundation for a later specialisation, with particular importance being attached to musical interpretation and drama as well as vocal training.
The aim of the master’s programme Solo Singing is to link theoretical reflection and performance practice. At the end of the degree, students should be able to interpret a wide range of vocal genres and eras with the highest artistic standard in order to prepare professionally and personally for professional practice.
The field of study Music Education – Voice and Instruments (IGP) focuses not only on a comprehensive artistic education as a singer but also on the development of pedagogical mediation and communication skills. The development of practical teaching skills is provided by the cooperating music schools of the city of Vienna, as well as by the supervision of the MUK teachers and helps the students to be able to independently develop according to their own pedagogically valuable convictions acting teachers.
