Lars “Baker” Andersson, active jazz drummer and composer, is the current vice director of Education in Music and head of  the Jazz-rock-world-music department at the Malmoe Academy of Music, Sweden.
Lars was born 1965 in Simrishamn, Sweden, where his interest in jazz started early. He began playing drums at the age of 10 and when he was 14 years old he played with Big Bands as well as small jazz-combo groups. After completing the 2-year jazzprogram at Skurups Folkhögskola, Lars entered the 4-year jazzprogramme at Malmö Academy of music where he graduated with a Masters Degree in music education in 1992. Throug regular visits to New York City Lars also had the opportunity to study with several influential drum teachers including Marvin ”Smitty” Smith and Carl Allen.
Since the beginning of his professional carer in the 1990´s Lars has played jazz clubs and festivals in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Germany, and Italy with such internationally – known musicians as Vincent Herring, Esbjörn Svensson, Joey Calderazzo, Mark Murphy, Stacey Kent, Ted Curson, Benny Bailey, Nils Landgren, Monica Zetterlund, Svante Thuresson, Etta Cameron, Georgie Fame, Tomas Franck, Richard Boone, Victoria Tolstoy and Jan Lundgren a.o.
