Cédric Carlier studied double bass in the class of Jean Paul Celea at the Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse de Lyon (CNSMD), where he obtained a Master of double bass in 1997.
He was member of the Orchestre de Paris from 1999 to 2007, since 2007 he is solo double bass player of the National Opera of Lyon.
He is frequently appointed as solo double bass in several orchestras in France and other countries, where he works with different well-known conductors (L. Maazel, V. Gergiev, B. Haitink, K. Petrenko, E. P. Salonnen, …).
Since 2009 Cédric Carlier is a member of the Lemanic Modern Ensemble, since 2012 he is an appointed professor at the Lyon CNSM, teaches at many international academies and gives masterclasses.
