Registration for entrance examination

Before registering for the entrance exam, please make sure that the exam dates have already been published and that you have not missed the registration deadline. All dates can be found here.

The regular entrance exams take place in the first half of the year. The study programmes start with the following winter semester. Only applicants for the academic diploma course Certificate of Performance (CoP) can apply at any time and arrange individual exam dates. Details can be found here.

In order to hand in a valid application, you have to apply online and transfer the application fee of EUR 50.-. The application fee will not be reimbursed even in the event of non-attendance.

Expenses that occur as a result of your application cannot be reimbursed.


Step 1:  Creation of an account

Please register online via the information system MUKonline under the following link to create an account: Creation of an account

Your basic data and your e-mail address are required. Please stick to the spelling on your ID card/passport. If you do not have an Austrian social security number or registration number, you can leave these fields blank. After having received the confirmation email and clicking on the activation link, you can log in to your MUKonline account to register for the entrance exams, to submit and to manage your applications.


Step 2: Application

  1. Log in to your account on MUKonline
  2. On the home page you will find the option “My Applications”
  3. On the top right click “Enter new application” and choose the correct semester and the desired study programme
  4. Follow the instructions in the application wizard and upload the requested documents:
     
  • Passport photo
  • Copy of your passport or identification card (in case of underage candidates: additional passport copy of legal guardian
  • Link to application video(s) if required for the examination process. Note: The link on a video platform (e.g. Dailymotion, vimeo, youtube) must be accessible until the end of the entrance exams. For more information, please refer to the exam programme for the respective field of study.
  • Exam programme
  • CV (including previous education in the arts)
  • Motivation letter
  • For a Master’s Programme: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree


Please note that no general university entrance qualification (Matura, Abitur, high school diploma) is required for an application as well as participation in a a study program at MUK.


Step 3: Administration

You can use the option "Applications" to view applications you have already submitted and track their processing progress. Few days prior the exam, please make sure that all documents and the exam fee have been set to "ok".

Only complete applications within the deadline as well as the timely receipt of the entrance exam fee entitle the applicant to take the entrance exam. (Please note that any transfer fees are to be paid by sender!).


Audition Date:

After registration and fulfilment of all admission requirements you will be informed by e-mail one week before the scheduled date about the exact audition dates. Please note that there can also be last-minute modifications. Be sure to check your e-mails the day before your exam.

In case of video applications, you will be informed about the examination result and, if applicable, about an invitation to the on-site audition via e-mail in due time.


Proof of German language proficiency:

All Bachelor or Master applicants whose native language is not German have to prove their knowledge of German. A proof of German proficiency is needed at enrolment. It is not necessary to have a German certificate to apply for the entrance exam. More information can be found here.

 
Visa:

If you have a “third country” nationality (non-EU or non-EEA state), you can obtain detailed information about your visa under www.oead.at
Information about entry conditions and visa procedures can be obtained from the Austrian authority responsible for your home country. If you require an official confirmation from MUK for your entry (only if you cannot enter without a visa), please send an e-mail to the following address: studieninfo@muk.ac.at
After having received your complete application (with all supporting documents including application fee) we will send you the confirmation.

Applications for studying at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna can be submitted online at anytime; they will be reserved for the next admission period. Applications submitted after the application deadline can no longer be considered for the subsequent audition date.
