Fernando Turina

Was born in Madrid, Spain, and studied at the Conservatorio del Liceo de Barcelona  (Barcelona's Liceo Conservatory) and at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Madrid (Madrid's Royal Superior Conservatory). He also studied the career of History of Art at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Madrid's Complutense University).
He takes the specialization of Piano Accompanist of Vocal Music with professors Miguel Zanetti and Félix Lavilla, and with Erik Werba (in Ossiach am See and Salzburg, Austria) and Paul Schillawski.
In 1982 he obtains the First Prize for Voice and Piano in the Yamaha Awards Competition in  Spain with the South Corean soprano Young Hee Kim.
He has recoded 13 CD's both for piano/four hands (with Miguel Zanetti) and as vocal accompanist with singers such as Ana Higueras, María José Montiel, María Aragón, Fabiola Massino, Emilio Sánchez, Teiko Yanagui for RTV Música, Ensayo, Etnos, Almaviva, Sauce, Salinas Record, Verso, Blue Moon and A.C.A. He has also made various recordings for R.N.E., Ser, TVE, TV3, Canal Sur, TV de Galicia, Televisa de Méjico, etc.
He has premiered works of many Spanish and foreign composers both for voice and piano and for piano four hands: Rodrigo, Monsalvatge, Guastavino, Castillo, Soler, Valls  Gorina, Bernaola, Prieto, Coria, Oliver, Angulo, J. L. Turina, Colomé, Fernandez  Alvez, and Kerger.
He has offered recitals at the mayor platform recitals of the world (Europe, North, South and Central America, Africa and Asia) with Montserrat Caballé, Luigi Alva, Miguel Zanetti, Ana Higueras, José Antonio García- Quijada, María Orán, Mª José Montiel, María Aragón, Paloma Pérez- Iñigo, María José Matos, Inma Egido, Young Hee Kim, Luis Leguia, Teiko Yanagui, etc.
He accompanied Montserrat Caballé in her recital for the President of the United States of America and the King of Saudi Arabia at The White House, Washington and played with Miguel Zanetti in a recital in the UNESCO headquarters, Paris. He also participated in a tour of concerts in different venues of the European Community during the presidency of Spain.
He has taught Master Classes in Bello Horizonte, Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro and Hannover.
Since 1978 he is a teacher in the Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid (Superior School of Voice of Madrid), where he was vice Principal in 1987 and 1988. At present he is the Principal of this institution, and also Professor of Vocal Repertoire.
