Bachelor's Programme

Thu., 04.04.2019 - Sat., 06.04.2019, starting at 09.00
Room 3.19 (Bräunerstraße 5, 3rd floor, 1010 Vienna)

The entrance examination is in several sections. You will need to pass the preceding part before moving forward to the next section. The entrance examination is used to check the suitability of the course candidate in the first of physical aptitude (intact muscle and joint function, healthy cardiovascular system – this must also be proven in advance in the form of a doctor’s certificate!), dance and artistic aptitude, rhythmical and musical aptitude, creativity and stage presence.

Exam content:
1. Classical dance
Classical dance technique / training to check the physical, dance and artistic aptitude
Duration: 60 minutes.

2. Contemporary dance
Contemporary dance technique / training to check the physical, dance and artistic aptitude
Duration: 60 minutes.

3. Improvisation
Improvisation exercises with and without music, solo and with partner.
Duration: 30 minutes.

4. Suitability interview

5. Presentation of own piece of choreography
Approx. 3 minutes

The entrance examination evaluates the aptitude of course candidates and is in several sections. You will need to pass the preceding part before moving forward to the next section. The entrance examination is used to check the suitability of the course candidate in the first of physical aptitude (intact muscle and joint function), rhythmic and musical aptitude and dance talent.

Exam content:

1. Checking of physical aptitude, i.e. intact muscle and joint functions and flexibility of the joints

2. Musical and rhythmical aptitude

3. Improvisation and creativity

4. Group work (2—3 training sessions)

No specific previous knowledge is required for interested applicants at the age of 10. However, a preparatory course of ballet classes at one of Vienna’s music schools is recommended. Previous knowledge is required for course applicants aged 12 and over. For the purposes of classification, they must complete classical training (2-3 lessons in the relevant age bracket).

Applications for studying at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna can be submitted at the Admissions Office anytime; they will be reserved for the next admission period. Applications reaching the Admissions Office after the application deadline can no longer be considered for the subsequent audition date.
